The first meeting of the Dissertation Council, created under the leadership of Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation, and Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, took place at the St. Petersburg Academy of the Investigative Committee.

The meeting was opened by the Acting Rector of the Academy, Tatyana Igorevna Rozovskaya, who noted that the establishment of the Dissertation Council is a significant milestone for the educational institution and the region as a whole. The Academy possesses a sufficient scientific and practical base and high potential: it holds various scientific events of national and international levels, conducts research, including on requests from the central office and territorial bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia, and trains scientific and pedagogical staff. Many professors and doctors of science, who work for the benefit of the Academy and the department, became the members of the Dissertation Council.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia congratulated the Academy on the establishment of the Dissertation Council and identified the key goals, tasks, and priority areas of work. "With the opening of the Dissertation Council, the Academy has become an additional platform in the system of the Investigative Committee to develop fundamental conceptual approaches in the field of criminal law sciences, which will have a beneficial impact on the development of Russian legal science as a whole," noted Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin in his speech.

As part of the first meeting, a dissertation for the academic degree of Candidate of Legal Sciences by A.A. Paltsev on the topic "Tactical Operation 'Red-Handed Arrest During the Bribery Investigation'" was accepted for preliminary consideration.

The opening of the Council at the St. Petersburg Academy of the Investigative Committee of Russia will allow solving important strategic tasks in the field of departmental education and science.
