In the Amur Region, the Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case following a traffic accident that resulted in people’s death, including children

On the evening of June 14, 2024, near the entrance to the city of Blagoveshchensk from the direction of the village of Chigiri, a driver born in 1965, who was intoxicated, lost control of his car, drove onto the sidewalk, and hit pedestrians. The victims were taken to the hospital; and several people, including minors, died at the scene.

In connection with this accident, the investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Amur Region have launched a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under pp. "a" of Part 6 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the RF (violation of traffic rules or operation of vehicles by a person in a state of alcoholic intoxication, which resulted in the negligent death of two or more persons).

An investigative and operational group led by a special case investigator from the regional investigative department is working at the scene. The group includes investigators from the local department and forensic investigators. All the circumstances of the accident are being established.
