The Chairman of the Investigative Committee ordered a progress report on the investigation of the criminal case into an accident in the Sakhalin region, which resulted in injuries to children

The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sakhalin Region have opened a criminal case against a 53-year-old local resident on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the RF (violation of traffic rules by a person in a state of intoxication, resulting in grievous bodily harm through negligence).

According to the investigation, in the evening, the man, while in a state of alcohol intoxication, driving a technically sound car, hit a group of four children aged 8 to 12. As a result of the accident, three children were hospitalized in a medical facility. One child is in intensive care in serious condition.

Investigative actions are being carried out in the criminal case to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, A. I. Bastrykin, has instructed the head of the Investigation Department for the Sakhalin Region, B. B. Bazarov, to report on the progress of the criminal case investigation and the established circumstances.
