Criminal case over Yak-18T plane crash initiated in Arkhangelsk Region

On 1 September 2012 Yak-18T, hull number 44422 owned by OOO Aviaservis (Ltd.) crashed near the village of Katunino of Primorsky district, Arkhangelsk Region. The plane took off from the airfield Lakhta and fell into the forest. There were 4 people aboard: captain of 1958 year of birth and 3 passengers – a woman of 1983 year of birth and two men of 1983 and 1984 years of birth. All of them died on the spot.

Investigating bodies of Northwestern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case over a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the Russian federation Criminal Code (violation of the rules for traffic safety and operation of air transport entailing by negligence the death of two or more persons).

At present investigators and criminologists are working at the scene to find out all the circumstances of the incident. Investigation is to be continued.
