In Altai territory resident of Biysk charged with murder of three people in 1998

Altai Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have brought charges against a 49-year-old resident of Biysk. He is charged with crimes under paragraphs “a” and “j” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder of two or more persons committed with the purpose of concealing another crime or facilitating its commission).

According to investigators, at night of 21 February 1998, the suspect, being in his flat and drinking alcohol, killed a 16-year-old resident of Biysk motivated by personal dislike. Later, having dismembered the body, he took it to railways. Later on 9 July 1998, during an argument with a 15-year-old neighbor the suspect killed him. To conceal the crime the suspect went into the flat of victim’s mother and strangled her. Then he brought in the body of her son and threw about some things to make it look like a robbery. After the last crime the man with his friend left the Altai Territory. In the period between July and September 1998, they committed a number of very serious offences in the territory of Moscow Region and Ukraine, for which were sentenced to long terms in prison.

Altai Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have established involvement of 49-year-old convict, who was serving his time, in these murders. On 5 September 2012, he was charged with these crimes he had committed earlier.

At present, investigating operations are underway to establish all circumstances of the incident. Investigation is to be continued.
