In Moscow criminal case opened against Lieutenant General Nikolai Pereslegin suspected of using counterfeit documents

Strategic Rocket Forces Military Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee following the results of the check has initiated a criminal case against Staff Chief – First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Southern Military District Lieutenant General Nikolai Pereslegin, suspected of a crime under part 3 of article 327 of the RF Criminal Code (use of knowingly falsified document).

According to investigators, Nikolai Pereslegin in 2011 with the purpose to receive from the state a flat in Moscow submitted to the Housing Department of Russian Ministry of Defense counterfeit documents stating that he was in need of permanent housing. But the General concealed that earlier he already had received from the Ministry of Defense a four-room flat in Tver, had two service flats in Moscow and Rostov-on-Don and some time before had reregistered the right of ownership to a house in the Tver Region in the name of his daughter.

At present military investigators are carrying out investigating and other procedural operations to establish all circumstances of the case.

We remind that it is the second criminal case opened against Nikolai Pereslegin this year.

In July military investigating bodies started investigating this high-ranking official’s abuse of official powers while certifying his subordinates, resulting in dismissing and transfer to the reserve of an honored officer, war veteran Colonel Alexander Verigin. But then military prosecutor of Strategic Rocket Forces cancelled the court’s decision on opening criminal case, deciding that Pereslegin’s actions were petty and not causing grave consequences.

At present this decision is appealed against by investigator in the order stated by legal procedure law (the complaint is reviewed by Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation).
