In Yaroslavl Region criminal case opened over part house collapse

On 14 September 2012, law enforcement bodies received a message that the second section of 2-section 2-storey house on Tolbukhina street in the town of Tutayev collapsed killing an 83-year-old woman. Following the results of the pre-investigating check carried out by Yaroslavl Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee criminal proceedings were launched into signs of a crime under part 2 of article 216 of the RF Criminal Code (violation of safety rules during building that has entailed by negligence the death of a person).

According to investigators, the safety rules were violated by a number of commercial organizations working on low-pressure gas pipeline building and subsequent preventive measures, entailing gas leak, blast, collapse of the section and death of the woman.

At present investigating operations are underway to establish all circumstances of the accident. Investigation is to be continued.
