Criminal case over beating of footballer Spartak Gogniev opened in Chechnya

Chechen Republic investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case over attack by unknown persons on a footballer of Krasnodar FC Spartak Gogniev on 4 September 2012 at the stadium in the city of Grozny during a game between junior teams of Terek and Krasnodar. The case was opened over a crime under paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 111 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (intentional infliction of a grave injury committed by a group of persons).

The long pre-investigation check was due to belated implementation of investigator’s orders on identifying and interrogation of witnesses and to the fact that the victim did not for a long time submitted medical documents for medical forensic examination on the gravity of injuries inflicted on Gogniev and qualification of actions of the attackers.
