In St. Petersburg criminal investigation launched after fragments of woman’s and two children’s bodies found

Fragments of dead bodies of an unidentified woman and two children presumably of 4 and 6 years of age packed in plastic bags and boxes were found in Krasnogvardeisky district of the city, not far from Bolshaya Porokhovskaya Street on 29 April 2014. Saint-Petersburg investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation into a crime under paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of two or more people, including minors).

At present investigators of the Investigative Committee and officials of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region Main Office of the Russian Interior Ministry are carrying out necessary investigating and search operations in order to identify the victims and individuals involved in the crime. Forensic analyses are to be run to find the cause of death and circumstances of the crime. Investigation is ongoing.
