Former deputy head of investigation office of Novosibirsk Region Main Office of Interior Ministry wanted for fraud detained

The Siberian Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee during the investigation into a fraud case (part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code) has detained in the city of Novosibirsk Sergey Dubovik, former deputy head of investigation office of the Novosibirsk Region Main Office of the Russian Interior Ministry. The former police officer was wanted internationally since 2010 and was hiding abroad, including Thailand. At the motion of investigators he was remanded in custody.

According to investigators, in 2008 Dubovik received 2 million rubles from a lawyer of Novosibirsk Region Lawyers Board in the Pluton car service center. The money belonged to a person under investigation over evading taxes carried out by an investigator subordinate to Dubovik. The head of the investigation office had promised the lawyer to wrap up the criminal case due to lack of crime.

After the fraud case was opened in 2010 Dubovik escaped from law enforcement.

At present investigating operations are underway involving the accused in order to find out all the circumstances of the crime.
