Another criminal case started against Yaroslavl mayor Yevgeny Urlashov

Yaroslavl Region investigative Bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have started on more criminal case against Yaroslavl mayor Yevgeny Urlashov. He is suspected of a crime under paragraph “c” of part 5 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (bribery on a large scale).

According to investigator sin May 2013, Urlashov demanded from a businessman a bribe for refusal of plaintiff’s claims in arbitrage on suit of mayor’s office against the businessman’s firm. The materials of the case have a video, showing how Urlashov meets this businessman in a restaurant in Yaroslavl and personally received from him 500 thousand rubles. In the near future investigators are going to interview Urlashov on the circumstances of this new charge.

It has been earlier reported that a criminal case was opened against mayor Urlashov and his subordinates over signs of a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 6 of article 290 (attempted bribe-taking by a group of people under a preliminary conspiracy with extortion and on an especially large scale). And a criminal case was launched against a 34-year-old man from Yaroslavl Region over signs of a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 4 of article 291.1 (attempted mediation in bribery).

As for the first criminal case I can officially confirm that head of agency for municipal orders Maxim Poykalaynen has concluded a pre-trial cooperation deal, which he has already executed by giving detailed testimonies about the circumstances of the crime and confirming the paramount role of Urlashov. One more subject Andrey Zakharov has written a request on the same agreement and it is now being contemplated. Deputy mayor Dmitry Donskov has also given damning evidence against the mayor noting his key role in extortion of the bribe. And for those who again tries to blame investigation of some kind of political motive I would like to remind that the Investigative Committee has had and still has one state motive – to fight corruption on behalf of the people. And the Investigative Committee does not make any differences in corrupt officials. Sooner or later we’ll get all of them.
