Criminal case over violation of rules for traffic safety and operation of railway transport in stations Kislyarovskaya and Krylovskaya involving bodily harm to 25 people launched in Krasnodar Territory

Investigating bodies of the Southern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation into violation of rules for traffic safety and operation of railway transport at 1,461st km between stations Kislyarovskaya and Krylovskaya in Krasnodar Territory involving bodily harm to 25 people and damage (part 1 of article 263 of the RF Criminal Code).

According to investigators, on 7 July 2013, at about 5 pm the engine crew of the passenger train No 140 going from Novosibirsk to Adler at 1,461st km between stations Kislyarovskaya and Krylovskaya in Krylovsky district of Krasnodar Territory used emergency braking. As a result 11 carriages derailed, 5 of them fell on the railroad bed. The train had 19 carriages with 618 people. No casualties were reported. 25 people appealed to Krylovsky central hospital for medical help: 10 were hospitalized, including 5 children. The names of the injured are being specified. Investigators are considering different versions of the accident, the priority ones are faultiness of railway vehicles or railroad bed. The version of a terrorist attack is not considered.

An investigating group is carrying on working at the scene, investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the accident. Investigation is ongoing.
