In Chelyabinsk Region criminal investigation against former first deputy governor accused of organizing libel against chairman of regional court

The Urals Federal District Investigation Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against Oleg Grachov. He is charged with the crime under part 2 of article 33, part 5o f article 128.1 of the RF Penal Code (organization of libel, that is spread of knowingly false information defaming honor and dignity of another individual and sabotaging their reputation, contained in media with accusing the individual of serious and especially serious crimes).

According to investigators, in December 2012, Grachov was first deputy governor of Chelyabinsk Region and organized libel spread by media about activity of Fyodor Vyatkin, who was a chairman of Chelyabinsk Region court. Acting on Grachov’s orders, the actual doer of the crime told a correspondent of a TV show, which was broadcast on 8 December 2012, false information defaming Vyatkin’s honor and dignity and sabotaging his reputation as a chairman of regional court.

Investigators have gathered enough evidence and the case has been sent to the prosecutor’s office for the indictment to be approved and further on to be sent to court to be tried on the merits.
