In Ryazan Region new criminal investigation launched in bribery in regional tax inspectorate

During investigation of a case against deputy head of Ryazan Region office of Federal Tax Service Alexey Novikov charged with bribery with extortion on an especially massive scale committed by a group of people in conspiracy, the investigating bodies of the Russia’s investigative Committee in Ryazan Region in cooperation with officers of the Interior Ministry and Federal Security Service have discovered new crimes.

Investigators have found that in January 2014 Novikov conspired with a head of a district inter-district taxation inspectorate in Ryazan Region and his deputy and received from a representative of Ryazan agricultural enterprise a bribe of 1.5 million rubles for compensation of VAT. A criminal case was launched against Novikov and his accomplices into crimes containing signs of the crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribery on an especially massive scale) and against a mediator – part 4 of article 291.1.

At present investigating operations are underway to find all acts of bribery committed by top officials of the regional taxation inspectorate. Investigation is ongoing.
