Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin held briefing in Saint-Petersburg

Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has held a briefing today at Leningrad Region Investigation Directorate.

The meeting was attended by head of Northwestern Federal District Investigation Directorate, head of St. Petersburg Main Investigation Directorate, head of Leningrad Region Investigation Directorate and head of Northwestern Transport Investigation Directorate. The officials presented reports on performance of investigating bodies in the main areas of their activity. Having noted a number of drawbacks in the work of the directorates, the Chairman explicitly ordered to eliminate them. In addition, Mr. Bastrykin underscored the necessity of improving the quality of preliminary investigation and to cut down the time of investigation.

Besides, the Chairman heard reports on the progress in investigating a number of conspicuous criminal cases. Among them were: investigation into disappearance of minor Pasha Kostyunin and into Siversky forest case. After that the Chairman received representatives of Siversky forest initiative group.
