In Yaroslavl Region businessman accused of bribery

The Yaroslavl Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged 45-year-old businessman Konstantin Sonin with a crime under part 5 of article 291 of the RF Penal Code (giving a bribe to an official through an intermediary on an especially massive scale).

According to investigators, on 30 April 2014, Sonin via intermediary gave a judge of the Yaroslavl Region arbitrage a bribe of 2 million rubles to reject a motion filed by a company against the accused and his companies. In addition, Sonin gave the intermediary 400 thousand rubles as a fee.

At present investigating operations are underway to gather and consolidate the evidence. The court satisfied the investigators’ motion and ruled to place the accused in custody pending trial.
