In Orenburg Region Investigations Directorate staff congratulated veteran on Victory Day

Every year, on the eve of the Victory Day, employees of the regional investigations directorate congratulate veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

War veterans are always surrounded by care of investigators and May meetings are particularly solemn and warm.

Gray-haired soldiers share memories about the battles, showing an example of a flawless performance of duty to the Motherland.

The Head of the Orenburg Region Investigations Directorate of the of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Sergey Fyodorovich Kolotov, employees of the Investigations Directorate and veterans of the investigating authorities came to visit the Great Patriotic War veteran Alexei Vasilyevich Agapov to congratulate him on the occasion.

Alexei Vasilyevich Agapov was born on March 30, 1924 in the village of Karagan, Voronezh Region. After finishing the 9th grade at the Moscow school № 640 in 1942, he was drafted into the army, graduated from the tank school. In 1944, he was conscripted into the army in armored forces. He participated in the Jassi-Kishinev operation, when he was severely wounded, and then was taken to hospital in Kishinev. After discharge from the hospital, the young officer was sent to the officer reserve of the 2nd Ukrainian Front. In April 1945, Alexei Vasilyevich Agapov participated in the battles for the city of Vienna; he was wounded during the capture of the city. He celebrated the victory in Vienna.

For participation in hostilities, Colonel Alexei Agapov was awarded the Orders of the Great Patriotic War degree 2, Red Star, the Great Patriotic War degree 1, the Medals "For the Defense of Moscow", " For the victory over Nazi Germany", " For Valour", the Order of Labor Glory degrees 2 and 3, in all, he is holding 22 awards.

Alexei Vasilyevich Agapov married on August 18, 1947 a native of Perevolotsky District, Orenburg Region, he lived with her for 51 years and now he has two sons, two grandsons, one granddaughter, four great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.

After the war, Alexei Vasilyevich Agapov served in Dusheti Georgian SSR, GDR. In 1966, he was sent to the Orenburg Region in dismissal.

The investigators meeting with the veteran began with presenting flowers and gifts to the hero. Then everybody listened to stories of Alexei Agapov about the battles of the spring 1945 with a genuine interest. The conversation over a cup of tea was held in a festive atmosphere. Investigators assured the veteran that they will be worthy to serve Russia and follow the example of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
