Russia’s Investigative Committee Chairman holds briefing in Chechen Republic

Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin arrived in the city of Grozny on 6 October 2014 and from the airport went to Isayev prospekt where yesterday a man set off an improvised explosive device. 5 police officers were killed and 11 more were wounded by shrapnel.

The Chairman laid flowers to the place of tragedy and paid the tributes to the police officers killed in the life of duty.

Then Mr. Bastrykin held a briefing in the Investigations Directorate for the Chechen Republic to hear a report of the investigating team on the progress of the investigation. The meeting was attended by Vice-Chairman of the Investigative Committee Boris Karnaukhov, heads of Main Investigations Directorates for the North Caucasian Federal District and heads of the republican Ministry of Interior and Office of Federal Security Service.

On the order of the Chairman the criminal case was accepted by the Main Investigations Directorate for the North Caucasian Federal District to continue the investigation and experienced criminalists of the Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee joined the operations.
