A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Ivanovo Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Igor Savochkin. He was found guilty of a crime under part 4 of article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (mediation in bribetaking on a very large scale).

The court and investigators have found that between 2008 and 2013, Savochkin acted as a middleman and several times passed bribes to Andrey Chuzhbinkin, who then occupied positions of head of Architecture and Construction Department, Vice-Chairman of the Ivanovo Region Government – Head of Construction and Natural Resources Office, from a CEO of a construction company for concluding a state contract on the building of a medical building of the regional children’s clinical hospital. The total sum of the bribe was over 40 million rubles.

An investigation against Chuzhbinkin is about to be finished, his lawyers are studying the files.

The court has sentenced Savochkin to a fine of 3 million rubles and banned him from occupying certain positions for a year.
