In Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area investigation launched in fire at Surgut power station-2

Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in safety breach during repairs in an affiliate of Surgut power station-2 (part 1 of article 216 of the RF Penal Code).

On 4 January 2015, at around 9 AM, a fire started during repairs in a turbine workshop of the affiliate of Surgut power station-2. The fire damaged equipment, roof, construction of the main building 1,200 square meters in area. This way the affiliate of Surgut power station-2 suffered loss of over 500 thousand rubles.

Investigators are questioning the eye-witnesses. A number of expert examinations have been fixed to find out the cause of the fire. The investigators are also identifying people responsible for safety breach. The investigation is ongoing.
