Vladimir Region traffic police officers have detained Aleksandr Shuleshov, 27, a novice at the Daniil's Monastery of the Holy Trinity in the town of Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yaroslavl Region on suspicion of killing the monastery’s father superior.

At the moment, investigators of the Head Office of the Investigative Committee are questioning the suspect and will soon decide on the restraint.

The dead body of the father superior with numerous stab wounds was found on 7 July 2016, in one of the monastery’s cells. The initial investigative and search operations showed that Shuleshov who fled the monastery on 7 July might have been involved in the crime. The operative units have an order to find him and bring to the investigators.

The investigators have questioned the novices and attendants of the monastery, searched the cells and assigned necessary forensic inquiries. They are checking different versions of the crime and are looking into the motive.
