The Samara Region Office of the Investigative Committee has charged a 41-year-old man with killing a woman and her underage son in a flat in Pobedy Avenue in the town of Novokuybyshevsk (Part 2, item “a” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code).
Criminalists of the Investigative Committee’s Forensic Directorate were involved in the investigation from the first stage. They also attended an interagency meeting which discussed the probe, planned tactics and methods of certain investigative operations (questionings of witnesses, additional examinations of the crime scene, receipt and analyses of billing information, etc.) and that yielded results.
The 41-year-old friend of the victim whom he had known for about two years was detained on suspicion of the crime. The victim’s jewelries were found at and seized from the man’s garage. Despite it, the man denied his guilt and refused to give evidence. At the same time the investigators got preliminary results of express tests which found blood of the woman’s son with the man’s DNA. During an additional examination of the woman’s bathroom, the criminalists found brown stains which were sent for an inquiry. The tests revealed that the blood found on the surface of the bath drain and a basin contained the DNA of the accused.
After that the man had to confess to the crimes. According to investigators, on 18 October 2016, the man and the woman had a conflict during which the man grabbed an ax and hacked her on the head, torso and limbs multiple times. The woman’s son tried to protect his mother and wounded him several times with a knife, but the killer hacked and stabbed him to death. The man washed blood from his hands in the bathroom and tried to conceal the crime by staging a robbery. He took off jewelries from the woman’s body, took the murder weapons and fled.
At present the investigators continue to look into all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
