In Perm, man gets life for killing boy went missing in June 2016 and homeless

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Perm Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict a 28-year-old homeless and unemployed man from Ivanovo Region. He was found guilty of a murder of two people, including a minor under Part 2, items “a” and “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code.

The court and investigators have revealed that on the evening of 5 June 2016, the man killed a 10-year-old boy, who had been reported missing, in Industrialny District of the city of Perm, and hid his body in a neglected sewer. Earlier, in 2014, he had killed a homeless man whose body he had thrown in the same sewer. The killed boy had been a third-grader, lived with his parents and a younger sister in Industrialy District of Perm. On the evening of 5 June 2016, he had left home for a walk and had never come back.

Before that the boy had often left home and had vagrancy records in the local police department.

Investigative and search operations found the boy’s body in the neglected sewer on Kosmonavtov highway. Investigators of the regional investigative authority with the help of forensic experts using high-tech equipment examined the scene and in addition to the boy’s body found remains of the killed man. The 27-year-old man was wanted on suspicion of killing the boy.

The man was detained on 25 August during a large-scale police operation. A court ruled to place him in custody pending trial.

The investigators conducted a lot of investigative and procedural operations during the preliminary investigation. They interrogated more than 200 witnesses, ordered and ran more than 20 forensic tests, including medical, biological, comprehensive DNA and commission psychiatric ones. Statements of the accused and witnesses were checked on the crime scene.

The court has sentenced the man to life imprisonment to be served in a special-security correctional facility.
