In Krasnodar Territory, man gets life for killing four in 2013

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Krasnodar Territory Office of the Investigative Committee as sufficient to convict 39-year-old resident of the village of Starominskaya Yevgeny Marushko. He was found guilty of killing four people including a minor under Part 2, items “a” and “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code.

The court and investigators have revealed that on 16 November 2013, Marushko came to the house of his ex-wife to get back the money she owned him. During a conflict, the man stabbed to the death with the knife he had carried the woman’s 23-year-old son-in-law. The 36-year-old woman and her 19-year-old daughter saw that and ran back into the house. The man got into the house and stabbed both of them and the woman’s underage daughter as well. All of them died at the scene.

A psychiatric examination showed that the man was suffering from a temporary mental disorder which made him unable to appreciate what he was doing at the moment of the crime so the court ruled him to be committed into a mental hospital. After the treatment, the man was assessed as fully capable of appreciating his actions, so the investigators were able to resume the investigation and refer the case to court.

The court has sentence Marushko to life imprisonment in a specialized correctional facility.
