IN Oryol Region, check launched into media reports about failure to provide comfortable housing to large family and death of woman probably following indifference of officials

On 18 March 2017, a federal TV channel showed a story about a large family living in Oryol Region with four children, one of whom is disabled, to whom local authorities have been failing to provide housing and to pay a timely lump-sum payout since 2010. The story made a focus on the fact that indifference of officials might have provoked the death of the children’s mother who had had to make the rounds of official instances to obtain justice.

Following this report, the Oryol Region Office of the Investigative Committee has launched a check to give an impartial legal assessment of the actions (omission) of the local authorities responsible for handling housing problems.

A procedural decision will be made following the check.
