In Maritime Territory, man found guilty of major crimes against child and sentenced to life

A court has recognized the evidence collected the Maritime Territory Office of the Investigative Committee as sufficient to convict 25-year-old Ruslan Ryzhikh. The court and investigators have revealed that on 7 March 2016, in a settlement in Shkotovsky District, a drunk man met a 12-year-old girl and asked her to take him to a railway station. The accused and the girl went along old railways. Sometime later he attacked the child and hit her on the head. He then raped her and killed by drowning the girl in a puddle.

It took advanced forensic equipment and minute work of investigators to solve the crime. The Investigative Committee’s DNA laboratory based in the city of Khabarovsk checked 1,700 saliva samples of all men living in the settlement of Shkotovo. One of the samples matched the one taken from the accused. During a search in the flat of the accused the investigators found and confiscated the clothes he was wearing at the moment of the crime and other things confirming his involvement in the crime. Operative support was provided by the police.
