Investigative Committee Chairman orders Sverdlovsk Region Office to put man accused of attempted murder of 4-year-old child in custody

The Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Russian Investigative Committee continues criminal investigation against the resident of Yekaterinburg, who is accused of attempted murder of a 4-year-old son (under part 3 of Article 30 and Item C, Part 2 of Article 105). The incident that was caught by surveillance cameras received widespread public response. As soon as Alexander Bastrykin knew about the incident, whe ordered the regional Investigative Office to request putting the man in custody. Such restraint measure is necessary as this man threatens not only life and health of this boy, but all other children in the family. Defenceless child got saved by passer-bys that didn’t ignore the conflict and stand up to strong and obviously drunk man.

The investigation already found the accused, who was already convicted before for intended infliction of grievous bodily harm and robbery. Additionally, he abuses alcohol.

The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee ordered examining the and giving legal assessment to actions of healthcare workers and police, how rapid they responded, how fast medical workers reported the incident to the police, and how the police responded to that outrageous crime against defenceless child. Obviously, examining and assessment must be carried out immediately.

Additionally, the investigators will look into work of child protection services, negligence of which could result into violation of children rights and a crime in the large family, which according to investigators, can be names as disadvantaged one.
