In Lipetsk Region, probe launched into missing child

The Lipetsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in murder of a child under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code after a boy went missing in the settlement of Soldatskoye, Terbuny District.

According to investigators, the 4-year-old boy raised by a large family went missing on 7 May in the settlement of Soldatskoye when his relatives were busy about the house. The boy was playing opposite the house with his elder brother, but then one moment he disappeared and has not come back.

As the boy has been absent for a long time, the investigators have reasons to believe that he has become a victim of a crime. The investigators and criminalists of the regional investigative authority are working at the scene. All necessary investigative and search operations are now underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the boy and to locate him. The investigators have surveyed the premises from the air, questioned the boy’s relatives and neighbors. All the items seized during the examination of the scene are going to be processed for the DNA traces.

There are more than 200 people looking for the boy. Along with police, there are local residents, volunteers from the town of Lipetsk, Belgorod, Tula and Kaluga Regions, as well as Emergency Ministry’s rescuers with special equipment and divers who have examined the bottom of a pond located 39 meters from the boy’s home.

The investigation is ongoing.
