Probe launched in violence against police officer on duty during unauthorized rally in Moscow

The Investigative Committee’s Major Cases Directorate has opened an investigation in the use of violence against an officer of the Russian Guard under Part 1 of Article 318 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to preliminary information, a participants of an unauthorized rally that took place on 12 June 2017 near No 18/1 in Tversakaya Street in Moscow sprayed tear gas in the face of an officer of OMON (mobile special force) of the Russian Guard’s Moscow Directorate. The officer suffered an eye burn and got necessary medical aid.

The suspect has been detained under Article 91 of the RF Criminal Procedure Code and now he is planned to be charged and placed in custody.

Necessary investigative and procedural operations are underway at the moment to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
