Probe launched in Kratovo shooting in Moscow Region

The Moscow Region Directorate of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in attempted murder of two or more people under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2, item “a” of Article 105, murder under Part 2, item “i” of Article 105, illegal circulation of firearms and ammunition under Part 1 of Article 222 and attempt on life of law-enforcers under Article 317 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to preliminary information, on 10 June 2017, a 50-year-old resident of the settlement of Kratovo, Ramenskoye District, Moscow Region barricaded in his house and opened fire on residents of the settlement and on the police. Three wounded local residents were taken to hospital. One of Russian Guard officers was also wounded. One of the wounded residents, a woman died at hospital later in the day.

By now investigators and criminalists have started examining the crime scene and found three more bodies. They are now working to verify the number of the dead.

A special operation underway to detain the shooter.

Investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances, reasons and contributing factors of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
