Investigative Committee Chairman orders check into legality of refusing opening investigation in death of man in hospital basement in Vladimir Region

A federal TV channel has showed a story about a 40-year-old man that left a ward in a hospital in Vladimir Region on his own and three months later his body was found at the hospital’s basement. According to mass media, neither doctor on call nor any of nurses saw the man leave and learnt that the man was missing only the next day and did not report it to the police in time. The Vladimir Region Office of the Investigative Committee ran a check and made a decision not to open a criminal investigation.

Alexander Bastrykin has ordered the Investigative Committee’s Head Office to check if the decision was legal and to give legal assessment to the actions of the hospital’s staff.
