The Crimean Regional Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation launched a probe into a blast at one of the colleges of Kerch under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of Russia (terrorism).
According to preliminary data, today an unidentified explosive device filled with metal items went off in the canteen of the Kerch Technical College. At the moment, there is known of 13 dead and about 50 wounded, most of them are teenagers. The information about the victims will be revised.
Currently, explosives experts are working on the site; after their work is done the investigators will proceed to inspect the scene directly at the epicenter of the explosion.
Under the instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the probe was transferred to the Central Office of the Investigative Committee. In addition, Alexander Bastrykin sent to the crime scene forensic experts and investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia experienced in such crimes.
A command office featuring officers of the Investigative Committee of Russia, the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was formed. The investigators began to interrogate witnesses and eye-witnesses and to study the video from security cameras in order to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
