The Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia continues investigation into robbery attack on the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova.

The arrested Bahyt Karabalaev was accused of offence under Part 3 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of Russia (robbery with violence committed with an illegal intrusion in a home). The investigation requested the Basmanny District Court of Moscow to keep the accused in custody.

During interrogation Karabalaev plead guilty and reported circumstances of the offence. He explained that for his robbery attack he had chosen a random house located near his place of lodging. The attacker wasn’t aware about the identity of the owners of the house.

At present the investigation has assigned all necessary examinations in order to define all the circumstances of the incident. Origins of the device the attacker used against the victim are yet to be determined.
