The Orel Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has launched criminal inquiries into the improper discharge of professional duties by Orel Administration officials (Part 1.1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

According to investigative data, top officials of the Orel Administration, being aware of a lack of financing for providing daily meals for schoolchildren, in 2018 and 2019, let municipal budgetary educational institutions conclude financially unsecured contracts with commercial enterprises for the organization of catering. This resulted in a debt of over 190 million rubles owed to individual entrepreneurs and enterprises providing food services.

Investigative actions are being carried out in order to establish all the circumstances of the situation.
