The Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed to report on progress of investigation of probes into damaging military graves in Leningrad Region and into a fire at a gas station in Novosibirsk Region

The Leningrad Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia continues investigation of a probe that had been launched earlier into damaging and destruction of military graves in Tosnansky Distric of Leningrad Region (Paragraph A of Part 2 of Article 243.4 of the Criminal Code of Russia).

Previously, director general of EVRIKAl LLC was detained on suspicion of committing of the offense and subject to house detention.

According to investigation, the EVRIKAl director general, being aware of discovery on the land plots belonging to the company of bone remains indicating a burial site of the Great Patriotic War times, acting as a group of persons together with unidentified persons, having an intent to destroy the burial sites of warriors killed in the defense of the Fatherland, ordered to remove and take out the upper layer of soil containing the remains of the defenders of the Fatherland, that led to damaging and destruction of the military graves. Along with that, the suspect actively obstructed search activities.

It is to be noted that the Investigative Committee of Russia is actively engaged in preserving the memory and prevention of falsifying of the Great Patriotic War History. And any attempts to damage or destroy military graves will not be ignored, they will be investigated, they will be given an appropriate legal assessment.

The investigation of the probe is under supervision upon instruction of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee. A report on the progress of its investigation has been requested from the Leningrad Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Apart from that, the head of the Committee also put under supervision and requested a report from the Novosibirsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia on progress of investigation of a probe into a fire at a gas station that entailed injuring of people.

The probe was launched under Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (fulfillment of works or rendering services that do not meet safety requirements). Investigators and forensic specialists of the regional investigative department are currently working on site.
