The evidence gathered by the Kursk Regional Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by the court to be sufficient to sentence a 32-year-old. She was found guilty of committing crimes under paragraphs C, D of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder of a minor committed with extreme cruelty), Article 156 of the Criminal Code of Russia (improper fulfillment of responsibilities for raising a minor by a parent).
The investigation and the court established that on March 15, 2021, the convicted woman, being at her place of residence in the Zarechye farm of the Zheleznogorsk region, experiencing hostility towards her 8-year-old son, took a canister of gasoline available in the house, after which she took her young son into the courtyard of the house, where she poured a flammable liquid on the child's clothes and body, and then set fire to it. The stepfather of the child, who was on the territory of the household, in order to save the minor with the help of improvised means, as well as water, extinguished the flame on the clothes and body. However, on March 17, 2021, the child died from thermal burns.
In addition, during the investigation, it was established that the convicted woman in the period from June 2013 to March 15, 2021 systematically inappropriately fulfilled her parental responsibilities for raising her young children, allowing cruel treatment, beating, and insults with foul language.
By a court verdict, the woman was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony.
