The Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia has initiated a criminal case against journalist Alexander Nevzorov. Signs of a crime under Paragraph e, Part 2, Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public dissemination of knowingly false information about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under the guise of reliable messages) have been found in his actions.
According to the investigation, Nevzorov published deliberately false information on his public page on the Instagram social network banned in the Russian Federation on March 9, 2022, and on his YouTube channel on March 19, 2022, about the deliberate shelling of a maternity hospital in the city of Mariupol by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The publications were accompanied by unreliable photographs of civilians affected by the shelling. These images were initially distributed by the Ukrainian media. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation officially announced the falsity of this information disseminated on the Internet.
The investigation is taking measures to establish the whereabouts of Nevzorov in order to conduct investigative and procedural actions with him.
