During a working trip to St. Petersburg, Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, visited Mr. Vladimir Yakovlevich Khodyrev, an honorary citizen of the city and a member of the St. Petersburg Public Organization "Residents of Blockaded Leningrad".
Before meeting with public figure A.I. Bastrykin laid flowers at the monument to Peter I, located on the city's Senate Square. This unique creation of the sculptor Etienne Falcone is sung in many works of art, including the poem “The Bronze Horseman” by the great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin. Elena Yurievna Garanina - the Principle of the boarding school for lady-pupils of the Investigative Committee of Russia took part in the laying ceremony. Recently, St. Petersburg has celebrated its birthday. And another significant event of the coming June is the 350th anniversary of the first All-Russian Emperor birth.
Then A.I. Bastrykin held a working meeting with V.Ya. Khodyrev, which was also attended by Elena Yuryevna Garanina, the Principle of the Boarding School for Lady-Pupils of the Investigative Committee of Russia, and by Maria Dmitrievna Krasnopeeva, the Head of the Cultural Center of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
Vladimir Yakovlevich was born in 1930 in Stalingrad and in 1942, as a boy, he became a participant in the defense of the city, and then he was evacuated with his family. By the will of fate, he ended up in Leningrad and did a lot for the city. For seven years he led the city as the chairman of the executive committee of the Leningrad City Council and entered its history as a Mayor, wise and experienced. He had paid great attention to the city's transport infrastructure expansion, and implemented a plan for comprehensive economic and social development. During the working ages of Mr.V.Ya. Khodyrev, in the position of Mayor, the following metro stations were opened: Ploshchad Aleksandra Nevskogo-2, Prospekt Bolshevikov, Pionerskaya, Ulitsa Dybenko, Rybatskoye, Ozerki, Prospekt Enlightenment. So many underground stations were put into operation by none of his predecessors or successors. New industrial enterprises, educational institutions, cultural institutions were created. Today, Vladimir Yakovlevich actively continues his social work and he knows all the Northern capital life nuances, and he also supports the Great Patriotic War veterans and the blockade survivors.
The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee congratulated Vladimir Yakovlevich on his birthday and on being awarded the city's highest award - "Honorary Citizen of St. Petersburg". Noting the merits of Vladimir Yakovlevich, the Head of the IC said: “We learned stamina, firmness, and consistency from you. Thank you for your working input in the Leningrad City Executive Committee. We remember your initiatives: the metro, the dam, the new enterprises. You are very respected and loved by Leningrad and St. Petersburg inhabitants.”
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia awarded Vladimir Yakovlevich departmental medals "For high citizenship" and "10 years of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation", and also presented him with books, souvenirs and memorable gifts.
Vladimir Yakovlevich thanked Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin for his attention, wishing success to the Investigative Committee of Russia and presented to Mr Bastrykin with books about blockaded Leningrad.
