Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia сcontinue to document the after-shelling impact to Donetsk committed by the Ukrainian nationalists

The Investigative Committee of Russia launched criminal investigations on the crimes prescribed in Part 1 Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of civilian persons, use of banned means and methods of warfare) on shelling Kirovskiy and Kuibyshevstiy raions of Donetsk by the Ukrainian nationalists.

According to the investigation, the commanders of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ordered their subordinated staff to shell several districts (raions) of the Donetsk city with BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems and 155 mm rocket weapons. As a result of these crimes, the multi-apartment residential buildings were destroyed.

Their actions are the direct violation of the Geneva Convention requirements Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War 08/12/1949 and its Additional Protocol ti it, which bans the use of weapons if this could cause excessive loss of life or injury among civilians.

Within a criminal investigation, the Investigators carried out examinations of buildings and the surrounding areas of Kirovskiy and Kuibyshevskiy raions of Donetsk.

Investigators are identifying the Ukrainian nationalists involved in the commission of the mentioned crimes, for their prosecution.
