The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee instructs to conduct an inspection into the fact of threats that Russian Diplomats receive in Canada

Mr. A.I. Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed to investigate the information, in co-operation with the Russian Foreign Ministry, and to detect the circumstances of death threats towards Russian diplomats and their families in Canada. According to reports, the unknown individuals in their anonymous messages, threatened to blow up the diplomatic mission, kill the Russian ambassador and his family, and also threatened to kill and commit other crimes against Russians.

At the same time, local authorities of Canada do not react in any way to numerous threats against Russian diplomats and their families, while in accordance with Article 29 of Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations dated 1961, the state of residence of a Diplomatic Employee is obliged to take all appropriate measures to prevent any attacks on mentioned persons, on their freedom or dignity.

On the instruction of the Head of the Department, the mentioned above information and the actions of the persons involved will be legally assessed.
