Earlier it was reported that on December 24, 2022, on Saturday night, a fire broke out in the Kemerovo city, in a facility building equipped for living. According to the latest data, the remains of two more people were found during the inspection of the scene. The death toll has risen to 22. Six more people were injured, two of them were hospitalized in serious condition with burns.
The Investigating Authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Kemerovo Oblast - Kuzbass launched criminal investigation in accordance with Part 3, Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inflicting death by negligence to two or more persons), Part 3, Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence, that is, failure to perform or improper performance by an official of its duties due to dishonest or negligent attitude to the service or duties of the position, which negligently inflicted the death of two or more persons), Part 3, Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life or health of consumers, which negligently inflicted the death of two or more persons). A set of investigative actions and operational measures aimed at detecting all the circumstances of the incident is being carried out.
Mr. Bastrykin A.I., Chairman of the Investigative Committee, instructed Mr. A.S. Bezukladnikov, Head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Kemerovo Oblast - Kuzbass, to report on the progress of the criminal investigation and on the detected circumstances. The criminal investigation and its results are subject to control in the Main Directorate of the Department.
