A verdict was delivered to Oleg Medvedev (Shishkanov) and members of his criminal organization

The evidence gathered by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has been deemed sufficient by the court for delivering a guilty verdict based on the jury's decision against Oleg Medvedev (also known as Shishkanov) and 17 members of his criminal organization. Depending on their individual roles, they were found guilty of crimes including the following: banditry, murder, extortion, infliction of grievous bodily harm, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, organization and participation in a criminal community, holding a higher position in the criminal hierarchy, and other crimes (Articles 105, 111, 163, 167, 209, 210, 210.1, 222, 228 of the Criminal Code of the RF).

Medvedev held the highest position in the criminal hierarchy and from the 1990s has been the leader of the largest criminal organization and its gangs in the Ramenskoye urban district, Zhukovsky and Bronnitsy urban districts of the Moscow region, intimidating residents of the region and heads of commercial organizations.

In addition, Medvedev, along with ten accomplices, committed the murder of Tatyana Sidorova, the general director of of Ramenskoye Breeding Plant CJSC and a local self-government deputy, and three members of her family. They disappeared without a trace in 2012. During the inspection of Sidorova's house, traces of violent abduction and the likely murder of the victims have been found.

Also, in January 2012, during an extortion attempt from local residents, members of the criminal organization started pursuing them by car, firing gunshots at their vehicle and subsequently killing Gurgen Arutyunov, who was inside the vehicle.

In the spring of 2014, the convicts set fire to a house under construction on Tsentralnaya Street in the village of Dergayevo, Ramenskoye urban district, Moscow region, causing significant damage to the owner.

From August 2014 to January 2020, the accomplices systematically extorted money from the owner of a grocery store in the village of Safonovo, Ramenskoye urban district, illegally seizing at least 650,000 rubles.

In December 2014, gang members attacked a the Moscow region resident, Sergutin, in the village of Volodarsky, Leninsky urban district, who refused to give them part of the profits from illegal extraction on the territory of the Moscow region and sale of non-metallic minerals. During the attack, they inflicted multiple injuries on Sergutin, of which he died at the scene.

The investigation’s team meticulously examined the circumstances of the incident, which made it possible to establish the fact of further gratuitous transfer of vast land plots of the breeding plant to a resident of the city of Ramenskoye, who was directly related to Medvedev.

Medvedev was apprehended with the assistance of units from the Main Directorate for Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Second Service of the FSB of Russia. Subsequently, with the cooperation of operational officers from the MIA and the FSB, other suspects were apprehended across the Moscow, Tver, Pskov, Ryazan regions, and Kamchatka. The extensive search operations led to the discovery of the bodies of the missing Sidorova and her family members.

Moreover, the investigation established that to finance Medvedev's criminal organization, its members extorted money from entrepreneurs in the city of Ramenskoye and the Ramensky district of the Moscow region, committed murders to eliminate competition in the extraction of natural resources, caused various degrees of bodily harm, and set fire to the property of those who refused to comply with Medvedev's criminal demands.

The court sentenced Medvedev and three other members of his criminal organization to life imprisonment in super-maximum security prison. The remaining defendants received various imprisonment terms.
