Charges were brought in Irkutsk against the man detained the day before on suspicion of committing a series of violent acts against children

Investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Irkutsk region continue investigation of the criminal case against the so-called "pedophile of Irkutsk". Today, the man detained the day before was accused of committing crimes under Part 4 of Art.132 of the RF Criminal Code (sexual assault), Part 3 of Art.30, and Part 4 of Art.132 of the RF Criminal Code (attempt to commit sexual assault).

According to investigators, the accused had been attacking the young girls in different parts of Irkutsk and Angarsk for several years. He lured children to the entrances of houses by means of deceit and committed sexual assault against them.

Genomic forensic examination was carried out under this case; the results confirmed the involvement of the detainee in commission of a series of crimes against young girls.

Originally, a number of criminal cases were launched on the crimes against children. Then, these criminal cases were consolidated in one proceeding. The strong indications that all these crimes had been committed by one person – the methods of committing a crime and the descriptions of the offender given by the victims were the same - made up a sufficient ground for consolidation.

The choice of a pre-trial measure in form of detention in custody for the accused is under consideration now. At present, investigation operations are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
