Criminal case against a senior police officer and his subordinate was launched in the Oryol region

The Investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Oryol region opened a criminal case against the chief of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Oryol, the police colonel, Alexander Fateev, and the duty officer of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Oryol, the police lieutenant, Yuri Zorin. They are suspected of having committed an offense under Part 1 of Art.286 of the RF Criminal Code (abuse of power).

According to investigators, in April 2011, Alexander Fateev and Yuri Zorin did not take measures to register crime report, received from a traffic police officer in the Oryol region, against a resident of Oryol, in whose actions contained elements of the offense under Art.318 of the RF Criminal Code (violence against a representative of authority), Art.319 of the RF Criminal Code (insulting a representative of authority). The specified unlawful acts of the suspects resulted in secreting a crime from registration and non-prosecution of a person, that have substantially violated the rights and lawful interests of citizens and the legitimate interests of society and the state.
