Criminal case initiated in Moscow against Head of Gagarinsky district Police Investigation Department of MVD and his deputy

Moscow investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case against Head of Gagarinsky district Police Investigation Department of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs major of Justice Robert Akhmetzyanov and his deputy, Major of Justice Mikhail Belov on the signs of the crime under part 4 of article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code (swindling).

According to investigators these police officers by false pretenses appropriated 90 thousand euros, which they had demanded and received from the son of the accused in the criminal case led by Belov. The suspects had promised to the son that they would achieve a suspended sentence for his father accused of swindling (part 4 of article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code).

The investigators are going to file a motion to the court to take both of the suspects into custody.

It should be noted that the crime was revealed only due to professionalism of officials of Moscow city and Moscow Region Directorates of Federal Security Service. Police Internal Security Service was involved only at the last stage of document processing of detainment, as it is required by the legal framework regulating search and investigation activity against officials of internal affairs agencies. Officials of Moscow main Directorate of Internal Security of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs did not take part in revealing or prevention of the crime committed by the police officers.

A check will be taken into disclosure of the information by the policemen concerning the criminal case investigated by the Russia’s Investigative Committee. In the framework of the check the aim with which the policemen prematurely spread the operative information will be found. Their actions will be legally evaluated.
