Ex-police officer of Main Office of Interior Ministry in Far Eastern Federal District to stand trial for act of corruption

The Far Eastern Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against former operational police agent of the Main Office of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Far Eastern Federal District Alexander Razvozzhayev. He is charged with the crime under part 3 of article 30, part 3 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (attempted bribery).

According to investigators, the police officer conducting from March to April 2012 in Vladivostok investigating operations found that to commit their crimes the suspects had used heavy vehicles owned by a company in Primorsky Territory. The accused decided to use this to steal money from the CEO of the company by a fraud. Rozvozzhayev repeatedly met with the victim under different pretexts and tried to make friends with him, he told him that he was an important person in the police and had wide connections in the law enforcement bodies in the Far Eastern Federal District.

Later between September and October 2012 the accused gave to the victim false information that during the criminal investigation the personnel of the Main Office of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Far Eastern Federal District were planning search and investigating operations to check economic activity of the victim’s company on violations of tax laws and money laundering with confiscation of financial documentation. He explained that this would have negative effect on the business and reputation of the businessman.

To prevent the operations the accused offered the businessman to give thought him a bribe of 700 thousand rubles to a senior official in the Main Office of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Far Eastern Federal District. The accused knew that no search and investigating operations had been planned and thus deceiving the victim wanted to take the money to himself. The businessman agreed to the offer and later gave Razvozzhayev 300 thousand rubles. At the moment of receiving the money the police officer was detained by the agents of Primorsky Territory Office of the Federal Security Service.

Investigators have gathered enough evidence and the criminal case with the approved indictment has been forwarded to court to be tried on the merits.
