Former official of state office to stand trial in Sverdlovsk Region for taking over 17 million rubles in bribe

The Sverdlovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have finished investigating a criminal case against 39-year-old former deputy CEO of House Building Foundation. He is charged with 9 crimes under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (taking a bribe on an especially large scale with extortion) and 3 crimes under paragraphs “b”, “c” of part 5 of article 290 (taking a bribe on an especially large scale with extortion).

According to investigators, in January 2010, the defendant, occupying the said position of the deputy CEO, demanded from the CEO of OOO Talitskaya Building Company (LLC) for signing certificates of completion under state contracts a bribe of 6 % from the sums subject to transfer to the company for executed building work under newly signed state contracts. Otherwise he threatened to do everything possible to refuse endorsement of decisions, in which the company was interested and with ungrounded postponement of payment for executed work under state contracts or not full payment. Later in the period between May 2010 and October 2012 the officer during personal meetings with the CEO of the company received from him bribes worth in total over 17 million rubles. In October 2012 the official was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe.

Investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment was forwarded to the court to be tried on the merits.
