Confrontations conducted in criminal case against Yaroslavl mayor Yevgeny Urlashov

The Central Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continues investigating a criminal case against Yaroslavl mayor Yevgeny Urlashov and his accomplices, charged depending on the role of each one with part 3 of article 30, part 6 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (attempted bribery, part 3 of article 30, part 4 of article 291.1 (attempted mediation in bribery). Today the Yaroslavl mayor has been transported in Moscow for investigative operations. In the near future the rest of the accused are also going to be brought in Moscow.

In view of contradictions in the testimonies of the persons under investigation and the applicant, investigators have conducted confrontations of Urlashov and head of agency for municipal orders Maxim Poykalaynen, Andrey Zakharov, who acted as a mediator and businessman Sergey Shmelyov. During the face-to-face questioning Poykalaynen, Pakharov and Shmelyov confirmed their earlier testimonies that Urlashov had attempted to take a bribe.

In addition, the four accused were subject to medical forensic expert examinations. Yevgeny Urlashov refused examination.

During this inquest investigators look carefully into circumstances of the crime and check Urlashov’s activity as mayor of Yaroslavl. Investigation is ongoing.
