Investigators establishing person who committed a series of attacks on elderly women in Volga Federal District

The Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee in the Volga Federal District is continuing to investigate the criminal case initiated on the facts of numerous murders of elderly women.

In the period from 2011 to September 2012, 30 murders of elderly women were committed in the Volga and Urals federal districts. Investigators have every reason to believe that the crimes were committed by one person.

The geography of offender’s "illegal activities" has expanded to cover the central regions of the country. Thus, a genetic fingerprinting expert examination, which was held in 2013, found the match between the DNA code, the investigators had, and the DNA found September 12, 2012 at the scene of murder of a lone resident of Ivanovo.

In all cases, the victims were single women aged between 80 and 90 years. As a rule, they were living in 1-2 room Khrushchev-era apartments in the first line of the road, not above the third floor.

Before the attacks, the perpetrator spoke with his victims, pretending to be a social worker. During the brief dialogue, he suddenly attacked the landlady, strangled her by hand or using improvised means. He stole only cash from the apartments. Leaving the scene, he closed the door with a key or slammed it.

The last three murders of elderly women, committed from September 25 to 27, 2012 have been committed in Ufa, Bashkortostan , in the same way – the perpetrator allegedly waited for women on the street, then, under the pretext of cleaning the chimney, he entered their apartments and killed the victims.

Currently, investigators have videotape depicting a criminal caught in the lens of a camera in the entrance hall of one of the victims. In addition, there is a composite portrait of the person drawn from the words of witnesses and victims, and coinciding with the image on the video.

The man looks 20-35 years old, has a medium build, about 170-175 cm high, wearing a short dark jacket with a hood, black pants, athletic shoes.

We ask everyone to be vigilant and not to open the door to unfamiliar people, and ask that you carefully review the video and stills, and to assist the investigators in establishing the identity of the offender.

The person, whose information will help investigators in establishing the identity of the offender, is guaranteed to be paid a sum of money of 1 million rubles.
