In Moscow, Dmitry Vinogradov, who had shot six colleagues, sentenced

The court found the evidence collected by the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to sentence Dmitry Vinogradov. He was found guilty of committing crimes under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 30, paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder of two or more people, attempted murder of two or more people) and part 1 of article 280 (public calls for extremism).

According to investigators, in the morning of November 7, 2012 Vinogradov motivated by personal enmity with unspecified persons and the need for self-affirmation came into the office of the pharmaceutical company with which he was employed, and made a lot of carbine shots at his colleagues. As a result, three men and two women died at the scene. Another man died at hospital. Only one victim has survived. Vinogradov was detained by the company’s security officers, who had heard the shots.

Despite the fact that Vinogradov had been arrested at the scene of the crime, investigators had to carry out a huge amount of work to establish the true motives and assumptions that contributed to the commission of such a violent crime.

After analyzing the evidence, investigators concluded that Vinogradov was preparing for a crime for a long time. The decision to carry out a demonstrative massacre of colleagues arose on the basis of a breakup with a girl who worked in a neighboring department. Investigators identified that it is the desire to assert itself on the basis of a banal love failure had motivated him to commit such ruthless crimes. Only by taking up arms, Vinogradov felt like a man, as he later admitted during interrogation. At the same time, the key part of his plan was the fact that his ex-girlfriend witnessed the brutal massacre of defenseless colleagues.

Throughout the year, he was preparing for a crime – he bought two 12- caliber hunting rifles "Vepr" and "Benelli ", ammunition, 8 magazines, special equipment, a laser sight, and even trained at the club for sports shooting to learn how to shoot more accurately and precisely. One can imagine that even then Vinogradov saw the frightened faces of his colleagues instead of targets.

Probably, for a normal person, it would be difficult to understand what he experienced in those fateful moments when he was shooting those innocent young people full of strength and plans for the future. But the most terrible thing about this tragedy, which claimed six lives, the number of victims could have been significantly larger without a courageous act of one of the colleagues of the victims - Yuri Marchenko, who managed to neutralize Vinogradov, taking advantage of the fact that he ran out of ammunition in one of the guns. During the interrogation, Vinogradov told that he planned to use all 150 bullets, which took with him that day. Later, he said that the only thing he regretted of is that he had killed not enough "genetic trash", as he called people in his manifesto, which had been published through the eve of the internet.

Even the experienced investigator, who saw a lot in his practice, sometimes could not understand and grasp the reasons for that unjustified villainy. There can be only one explanation - the trash was in his mind and soul.

The Court sentenced Vinogradov to life imprisonment in a penal colony of special regime.
